COUDERSPORT — A tractor-trailer rig caught fire while the truck was in motion at 1001 E. Second St., Eulalia Township, early Friday morning.
Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call of a vehicle fire at 2:32 a.m. A crew of 13 responded with an engine and tanker to find a commercial tractor-trailer with the rig fully involved alongside the highway.
The crew went to work extinguishing the blaze and cooling the just-filled fuel tanks, along with the 30 gallon tank of hydraulic oil.
The rig, which contained a sleeper cab, was a total loss, but minimal damage was done to the trailer.
Fire department officials reported on social media that East Second Street was shut down for short periods of time while the crews worked. There was no indication that anyone was injured.
The incident is being investigated by Coudersport-based state police, who had no additional information available as of Friday afternoon.
