COUDERSPORT — A Verona man is facing allegations he tried unlawfully to purchase a firearm in Potter County.

Alan Dickerson, 56, is charged with materially false written statement-purchase, delivery, transfer of firearm, a third-degree felony; and unsworn falsification to authorities, a second-degree misdemeanor, court records stated.

Coudersport-based state police said that at 4:36 p.m. Oct. 25, Dickerson tried to unlawfully purchase a firearm from Perry’s Sport Shop in Austin.

He was arraigned Friday and released on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 19.
