Two students at Bradford Area High School have been accused of planning acts of violence against other students.
A joint statement on the investigation was released Tuesday by McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, Bradford City Police and Bradford Area School District.
The students’ names were not released. Officials said both were juveniles.
“The law prohibits disclosure of the names of the juveniles involved,” officials said in the statement.
No one was hurt, according to Shaffer.
According to the statement, faculty overheard a discussion between the two students, and the police were notified.
“The students were discussing a plan to harm other students,” the statement read. “The students were not in possession of weapons.”
The statement briefly outlined the investigation process. Police interviewed the two students and their parents and consulted with the District Attorney’s Office, the school district and juvenile probation.
“Charges are pending against the two juveniles through the juvenile court system and the school district has instituted discipline proceedings per its policy,” officials stated.
Shaffer declined to provide information on the nature of the charges to be filed. The Bradford Police website categorized the incident as terroristic threats.
