A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail for allegations of assault from December.
Jonathan D. Card, 26, of 21 Pearl St., is charged with strangulation, a felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary charge.
He was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone and committed to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 27, Card’s girlfriend confronted him about suspicions that he was lying, and they started arguing. At one point, he grabbed her from behind and put her in a chokehold, “dragging her out of the house ‘saying she will not question him’ and ‘he hopes she goes to hell,’” records read.
He punched her at least twice during the fight, and, when the fight made its way outside, he picked up old pumpkins off the porch and smashed them on her, as well as kicked her, court records indicated.
She was able to call out to a neighbor to call police for her.
Card is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Feb. 14.
