TIDBITS: Andy Heffner of Ormsby called with several tidbits he wanted to share with our other readers.
To start, he told us, “Woolly worms — Did you know they’re in other parts of the world?”
He was watching an episode of the cooking show “Extra Virgin” where the husband and wife on the show were cooking outside in Italy. The wife, who is from Upstate New York, suddenly “gives out a bloodcurdling scream. Her husband thought something was wrong.”
Turns out, she was excited because she found a woolly worm. She didn’t realize they also lived in Italy.
“I was flabbergasted, too,” said Andy.

Another show, “American Pickers,” had an item with a connection to Bradford.
This episode showed the hosts buying antiques in South Carolina. One of the pickers, Frank, held up an object: a pyramid-shaped display case for Zippo lighters.
Mike, another guy on the show, said it was a counter display from the Vietnam era.
The store owner explained that his dad used to have the display on the counter in the store, and he sold lighters from it.

This next one is a weird one, Andy said.
He wondered if anyone else had noticed this: “deer coming down and eating the sunflower seeds out of the feeders.”
In the 55 years he’s lived in Ormsby, he’s never had that happen before — until now.
“We buy the black, oily sunflower seeds for the birds,” he said, explaining that he and his wife heard they were the best food for them. They’ll fill the feeder and throw some on the ground for the mourning doves.
They’ve been noticing deer tracks to where the seeds are, and the seeds will be gone.
“That was really strange,” he said.
Andy was wondering what is different now that prompted the deer to go after his seeds when they never have before. Perhaps food has been scarce this winter?
