The Georgia Pacific Youth Basketball League (BYBL) held its season-ending tournaments on Saturday.
The Gleason Masonry Bonnies took home first-place honors in both the varsity and JV divisions. On the varsity side, Malachi Benjamin scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Bonnies to a 29-20 victory over the OmniTech Spartans. Brayden Frair had six points for the Spartans.
Benjamin was the BYBL MVP as well, leading the league with 76 points and playing strong defense.
In JV action, the Bonnies topped the Georgia Pacific Wolverines 16-10. Leading the Bonnies with 14 of his team’s 16 points was Michael Sheeler, while Evan Troisi netted eight for the Wolverines.
The league also handed out most improved player awards to a member of each JV and varsity team. They were: Sean Ward and Trey Curcio for the OmnisTech Spartans; Nick Davis and Evan Soto for the GP Wolverines; Cyrus Stiles and Jake Whitlow for the ABC Tarheels; and Owen Manion and Cole Blatchley for the Gleason Bonnies.
