CLEARFIELD — Construction of a McKean County bridge replacement has been postponed until late spring 2019.
The bridge spans Havens Run on Route 46 (Emporium Road) about three miles southeast of the village of Betula in Norwich Township.
Completion of the bridge was previously expected this winter. However, weather-related delays at the bridge site have adversely affected the construction schedule. In addition, since Havens Run is a stocked trout stream, environmental restrictions prohibit in-stream construction activity during the spring. Construction work will resume at the end of spring and the bridge is now scheduled to be restored to two lanes of traffic this summer.
For motorists, this means traffic will continue to be limited to a single lane through the work zone, controlled by temporary traffic signals, until the bridge work is completed.
This bridge is referred to as JV-59 and is one of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
