OLEAN, N.Y. — Bradford’s Dillion Keane improved his unbeaten mark to 21-0 on the season, but the Olean/Allegany-Limestone wrestlers used a pack of forfeits to roll to a 60-18 victory over the Owls Tuesday.
Keane decisioned Devan Moore, 9-2, in 182 to cap a three-class win streak from the Owls. Colby Keane decisioned Olean’s Icar Simon 9-3 in 160 and Derek Sunafrank won by fall over Micah Osby (1:14) in 170.
Bradford’s fourth victory of the match came from Brett Thompson via fall (1:20) in the 120 weight class.
“Everybody wrestled well tonight,” Bradford wrestling coach Jamey Miller said. “Mike Gow, I thought he was gonna win for a second (lost by fall in 132). Everybody was doing what they needed to tonight. We need to keep plugging away and get ready for the postseason.”
Miller also noted the difference in wrestling styles that was on display in Olean.
“The way they wrestle in New York is quite a bit different it seems like,” he said. “It was good to see yet another style, but neither Derek, Colby or Dillon were wrestling slouches by any means.”
The Olean/Allegany-Limestone wrestlers dominated the match because of eight forfeit victories scattered throughout the upper and lower classes.
For Bradford’s wrestlers who competed on Tuesday, the push towards the district playoffs continues. And despite the team struggling to a 1-6 mark, Miller has confidence in his individual wrestlers to succeed in the postseason.
“We are back in (Class AAA) this year, but after wrestling heads up with DuBois and Clearfield, my hopes are high,” Miller said. “We wrestled well against them and DuBois and my expectations are high.”
Next up for the Owls is ‘Senior Night’ against Coudersport on Thursday.
