A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly hiding from McKean County Adult Probation employees, then assaulting a police officer who came to retrieve him.
Chad C. Reed, 27, was arraigned Friday night before District Judge Dominic Cercone and committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Reed is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, and resisting arrest.
According to Bradford City Police, on Friday, Adult Probation officers viewed Reed — who was on probation — at 75 Jefferson St. Probation officers requested assistance from police and maintained a perimeter of the home until Bradford police arrived.
Police officers and a probation officer entered the home to locate Reed. They discovered Reed had locked himself inside a bathroom; when he was asked to come out, he refused, police reported.
Officers entered the bathroom. As soon as the door opened, Reed charged at an officer and tried to strike him, “swinging his fist wildly at the Officer,” police stated. “Reed continued to fight, punch and kick at the Officer.”
After a short struggle, a Taser was deployed, and officers were able to handcuff Reed and take him out of the residence, according to police.
Reed is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
