A Salamanca, N.Y., woman, alleged to have violently fought emergency room staff at Bradford Regional Medical Center on Thursday, is in McKean County Jail.
Amy Grace Spruce, 43, of 85 Murray Ave., is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, third-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 9:34 p.m. Thursday, Bradford City Police were called to the hospital’s emergency room where Spruce was actively fighting with emergency room staff. When police arrived, Spruce was being restrained by multiple ER staff on the floor.
Staff told police that Spruce became violent with them, trying to kick and punch staff members, leading to the need to restrain her. Before she was under control, she kicked the hospital bed into the wall, which caused a hole in the wall, the complaint alleged.
During the altercation, she injured one of the ER staff, scratching her on the chest, hand and neck. When police placed Spruce under arrest, she “became disruptive again by swearing at staff and attempting to resist when being placed in handcuffs,” the complaint stated.
Spruce was arraigned Thursday night before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 jail. She is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
