SMETHPORT — The Port Allegany/Smethport wrestling team celebrated its Hubber senior day in style with a 42-27 decision over Johnsonburg Thursday.
Two of Smethport’s three seniors, Bryent and Braedon Johnson, won via forfeit, while Alex Sanderson lost by major decision to Johnsonburg’s Cole Casilio in 152.
It was good to have it (in Smethport) to have them wrestle in front of their home crowd,” Port A coach Brad Greenman said. “Nice to have that, and to recognize them.”
Elsewhere on the mat, Port Allegany’s Montgomery Tanner (5:55) and Isaac Smoker (5:26) each won via hard-fought pins in the 138 and 145 weight classes, respectively.
The Gators also picked up four wins through forfeit as well.
Johnsonburg won four straight weight classes from 152-182, with Tyler Watts picking up a 7-4 decision over Derek Kallenborn in 182 and Christian King over Ethan Debockler 5-2 in 170.
Other wins via pins for Port Allegany came from Reese Vollmer in 1:23 in 113 and
Port Allegany (12-1) is off until next Wednesday against Cameron County.
