KUDOS: The website Travel+Leisure has released a list of “Where to find the coziest restaurant in every state.”
We’re happy to say the Westline Inn made the list for Pennsylvania.
“Near the New York stateline, the restaurant at the Westline Inn is #cabinlife goals. Work your way through bacon-wrapped shrimp and slurpable French onion soup in the company of taxidermied pheasants and deer. The dining room is rustic New England chic with just a sprinkling of kitsch, just how we like it. Wash it down with a dark ale.”
How neat.

MUSEUM: With the ongoing federal government shutdown, the Smithsonian Museums and National Zoo are closed to visitors.
And so is the popular panda cam. None of the zoo’s live animal cameras are in operation during the shutdown, because they are considered non-essential.
The National Zoo’s giant pandas are Tian Tian, Mei Xiang and Bei Bei.
According to Smithsonian’s website, there were nearly 30 million visits to the museums and the National Zoo in 2017.
“The zoo sits on 163 acres in the heart of Washington, D.C.’s Rock Creek Park and is home to 2,700 animals representing more than 390 species,” the website reads.
The Smithsonian is made up of 19 museums, galleries, gardens and the zoo. Two of the museums are in New York City, while the rest are in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area.
“The total number of objects, works of art and specimens at the Smithsonian is estimated at nearly 155 million, of which nearly 146 million are scientific specimens at the National Museum of Natural History.”
Among the exhibits in the Museum of Natural History are the Hope Diamond, mummies, gems, minerals, mammals and more.
The National Museum of American History has some of the most beloved items, like the Bunkers’ chairs from the television show, All in the Family; the puppet, Kermit the Frog; props from the television show, M*A*S*H and the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz.
We hope the shutdown ends soon, for so many reasons.
