KANE — Kane-based state police are alerting the public of a planned exercise Monday at the Kane Area School District.
Between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., officers with state police and Kane Borough Police will be conducting an active shooter training exercise at the elementary, middle and high schools. The training is being administered by the State Police Special Response Team (SERT) and is intended to better prepare law enforcement officers to respond to active shooter threats.
The exercise is not open to the public and no students will be taking part in the event. Local residents should expect to see a large police presence at the schools, but otherwise there will be no impact or any type of street closures.
Questions can be directed to Cpl. Lance Schimp at the Kane barracks.
