Charges in a Foster Township camp burglary case were bound to McKean County Court Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther.
This is one of three cases James E. Bunce Sr., 31, of Bradford, is facing for allegations occurring between June 28 and 29 in McKean County. He is also accused of stealing chainsaws from a Bradford City business and setting fire to the getaway vehicle.
Regarding the alleged camp burglary, the criminal complaint indicates that between between 6 p.m. June 28 and 9:45 p.m. June 29, Bunce entered a campsite on Rew Coleville Road in Foster Township and took items including a Craftsman riding lawn mower, a Craftsman bagger, a Philips HD television, a Craftsman leaf blower, an Emerson 900-watt microwave, a KTM 85 dirt bike, a DeWalt drill with batteries and a charger, 10 tiki torches, a Coleman cooler, food items, 10 cases of soda and an air compressor, the complaint stated.
Bunce is also accused of damaging several items, for which the alleged victim was compensated $2,260.73 from Tuscarora Insurance Co., according to court records.
A part from the stolen leaf blower was found in a pick-up truck destroyed by fire June 29 on Songbird Road in Bradford Township — a fire Bunce is accused of intentionally starting, the complaint indicated.
The truck had been the alleged getaway car in a June 28 burglary at Stoney North Enterprises Inc., Bradford City, in which the court records indicate Bunce is accused of conspiring with Michael Randolph and James Hammond Jr. to steal several chainsaws.
Bunce is incarcerated in McKean County Jail.
Bradford man waives hearing on second drug case
A Bradford man who is currently facing drug delivery charges in two cases waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Leonard E. Elder III, 27, is charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance.
The criminal complaint states that at 3:15 p.m. Dec. 18, Elder conspired with Mitchell R. Garner, 29, of Buffalo, N.Y., to deliver .08 grams of crack cocaine.
A confidential informant with the McKean County Drug Task Force purchased the crack cocaine from Garner, who was staying with Elder in Room 424 of the Hotel Holley, according to the criminal complaint.
Both Garner and Elder were in communication with the confidential informant to arrange the sale via a shared “drug phone” where people could place orders for crack cocaine, court records stated.
Elder waived a preliminary hearing on the prior case — in which he is also accused of crack cocaine delivery — on Jan. 2. A last day to plea conference is set for March 21.
He is incarcerated in McKean County Jail.
Burglary charge withdrawn, other charges in case bound
While one burglary charge was withdrawn, several other charges against a Bradford man were bound to McKean County Court Wednesday at a hearing before District Judge Richard Luther.
Alex C. Green, 19, of Bradford, is charged with two counts of criminal trespassing, a second- and a third-degree felony; loitering and prowling at night time, a third-degree misdemeanor; and summary charges of criminal mischief, public drunkenness and purchasing alcohol by a minor.
The criminal complaint states that at 4:31 a.m., two Bradford Township police officers were dispatched to 669 W. Corydon St. for a report of a male on the front porch trying to enter the home after smashing the front windows out.
Police arrived to find Green — who was under the influence of alcohol — sitting in a front window that had been completely broken out of the frame; his clothing was soiled with mud and blood from the attempted break-in, according to the complaint.
The home was occupied at the time, and the occupants, who did not know Green, were trying to keep him from coming in through the window, court records stated.
Green is free, having posted $5,000 bail.
