KANE — Bradford coach Jamey Miller and Kane coach Mike Swartwood agreed to join forces for the good of their respective teams Tuesday night.
“With all the forfeits, it was pretty much a given that we weren’t going to win,” said Miller, whose Owls lost the Allegheny Mountain Wrestling League match to the Wolves 48-7.
“I talked to Mike before the match began and asked him if he would be willing to switch some matches around so both our kids and theirs could get good matches. He agreed and it really helped both teams.
“We wanted to make the stiffest competition we could and we did. All the kids wrestled really well and it helped them get ready for the postseason,” Miller emphasized.
There were no matches in three of the 14 weight classes and the Wolves picked up team points by either head-to-head matches or forfeits in 10 of the 11 remaining weights.
Leading the Wolves with pins were Curtis Barner at 132, Dominic Cartwright at 195 and Ty Stahli at heavyweight.
Winning for the Owls were Dillon Keane, who remains unbeaten at 170, and Derek Sunafrank at 182.
Bradford will take part in the Mercer Tournament Friday and Saturday.
