MAGAZINE: We always enjoy looking through our copy of the Pennsylvania Magazine. In the January/ February issue, we were pleased to see a picture taken right here in McKean County.
“David K. Wilcox of Doylestown ventured out for a hike in heavy snow that had fallen the night before in Duke Center, a small village next to Bradford, McKean County. Since the snow dampened any noise he was making, he was able to close in” on a pair of deer in the woods before they noticed him.
WOLF: Tuesday is the inauguration of Gov. Tom Wolf for his second term in office.
The “Moving Pennsylvania Forward Inaugural Celebration” will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. Tuesday at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.
Tickets are $100 for adults and $50 for students and seniors. An array of what Pennsylvania has to offer will be featured at the event, including Straub Beer and wine from Wilcox Winery.
Cocktail attire is required, of course.
Those with tickets to the festivities will be dining on Amish soft pretzel bites with maple mustard, deviled red beet eggs, meat and cheese, potatoes, mushrooms, brisket and chicken, all from various places in Pennsylvania.
Desserts will include the famous Farm Show milkshakes, chocolate from Hershey, and strawberry eclairs and mini whoopie pies from The Pennsylvania Bakery at Camp Hill.
Sounds like quite the soiree.
TURKEY: A reader from Interstate Parkway in Bradford called Wednesday to tell us she had seven turkeys in her yard.
