Several places in Bradford experienced power outages and issues between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
At The Era, the power would go off for a minute or two before coming back on, and then go off again. This happened several times over about a 20-minute span.
When the power came back on, police radio reports indicated transformer fires on South Avenue in Lewis Run, as well as the area of Browntown Road and High Street. A radio report indicated power surges were happening by High Street, and the substation there was “arcing” and had sparks coming from places on it.
While police and fire department officials were checking the area, no obvious fires were immediately located. Crews with Penelec were dispatched to check the situation in the entire Bradford area.
