BUSY: With the advent of a new year, and plenty of cold weather for January and February in store, many from the community may be searching for indoor, creative events and activities to brighten the winter months.
Look no further than the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where the calendar of events for the arts offer something for everyone in the next couple of months.
Pitt-Bradford provides the programs through three arts series, Prism, Spectrum and Kaleidoscope, which “make performances and exhibitions available and inviting to members of the public throughout the region, within the campus community and to school-age audiences.”
In a brochure listing the mission of the arts program, Patricia Colosimo, director of arts programming at Pitt-Bradford, noted the campus is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its children series this year, among other activities.
“Kaleidoscope (a matinee series for schools) has welcomed more than 23,000 children on campus in that time to experience a wide range of programming,” Colosimo said. “The yearlong party will end with the May 3 performance of Charlotte’s Web, which started everything 10 years ago.”
In the meantime, Pitt-Bradford will help take the edge off of winter for the young, old and everyone in between with the following offerings on campus, which include:
• Jan. 11, noon – Light and Shadow: Woven Paintings by Rick Minard, KOA Art Gallery.
• Jan. 12, 10 a.m. – Family Folk Dance Party, smART Workshop, Bromeley Family Theater.
