The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 26 Chautauqua Place, will host its next mobile food pantry at 2 p.m. Jan. 15.
Preregistration is required and can be done Jan 7 or 8 by dropping by the church office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The guideline for receiving food through the mobile food pantry program is 150 percent of federal poverty designations, i.e., a family of four can have a household income of up to $2,400 per month and qualify.
Receiving food from the mobile pantry does not affect eligibility to receive assistance through any other program.
The mobile food pantry is a program offered through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania, whose mission is to provide food to those in need within 11 counties of northwest Pennsylvania while creating awareness and educating the community on the realities of hunger. Last year, Second Harvest distributed 13 million pounds of food to 308 member agencies and 140 Senior Box distribution sites.
