County residents were alarmed mid-year when someone began leaving bomb threats at Truck-Lite, Wellsboro.
Following an extensive investigation by state police and local police agencies, Brandon Lee Andrews, 31, of 13 Charleston St., Apt. C, was charged with terroristic threats, threat to use weapons of mass destruction, criminal mischief, false reports to law enforcement in a preliminary hearing before District Judge Rob Repard Thursday, June 12.
Andrews was charged by state police for making bomb threats that caused the facility to be shut down and searched by state police four times between May 15 and June 1.
Police said Andrews, who was an employee at Truck-Lite, made five bomb threats, and each time the building was evacuated. Andrews eventually confessed to police after implicating a co-worker, according to police.
Total damage and loss was estimated to be approximately $1 million, $250,000 for each occurrence.
A search Andrews’ apartment and vehicle uncovered no bomb making materials, police said.
Andrews was denied bail and jailed. A preliminary hearing was held July 24 and he was sent back to jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Following a county court arraignment Aug. 20, Andrews’ charges were changed and he was released Dec. 15 on $1,500 bail.
His mandatory pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 25.
