SMETHPORT — A Coudersport man has been charged with allegedly intimidating a witness against him in a prior criminal case.
Thaddius Lathrop, 30, of 605 Ross St., is charged with intimidating a witness, a first-degree felony; stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor; three counts of harassment and one of disorderly conduct, third-degree misdemeanors.
According to court records, on Dec. 14, Lathrop contacted his former wife, who is now married to a police officer, to ask if she would defend him or her current husband in a pending court case. He began making degrading statements about her husband and telling her to tell his side of the story, the criminal complaint read.
He continued sending her messages after being told not to, the complaint read.
He was arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Jan. 3. He is represented by attorney Christopher Martini.
