ST. MARYS — A Mercer County man is being sought by police after a four-mile pursuit on Dec. 20.
Wayne Scott Sailar, 42, of Mercer County, was charged by the St. Marys City Police after failing to stop when hailed, which led to a four-mile pursuit, just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 20.
Police said that once Sailar’s vehicle came to a stop at the end of Siecker Road, Sailar and his passenger, Nicole M. Offie, fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle. Offie was apprehended and informed police she last saw Sailar running down through the woods.
Police reported charging Sailar with two felony counts for fleeing and eluding a police officer and flight to avoid apprehension, four misdemeanor counts for resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief, driving with a suspended driver’s license DUI related, and six summary counts for traffic violations.
Offie also reported to police that she and Sailar recently came to the area and were staying with a man along Route 66 in Kane, until they found a place to live. Offie also said they chose a wooded area so Sailar could run and hide out for a few days if they were pursued, police alleged.
Offie was later transported to the Elk County Prison, where she was housed on a detainer issued by Mercer County Parole/Probation.
On the evening of Dec. 20, Johnsonburg Borough Police observed an individual matching the description of Sailar coming from Kwik Fill. Police later went to the Kwik Fill and and provided a picture of Sailar, which an employee identified that to be the individual who entered and purchased a drink.
Sailar was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red shirt, a dark grey zip-up hoodie and a dark grey beanie hat, police said.
Sailar has previous convictions for drug possession, fleeing and eluding, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, escape and obstructing official business. He has five criminal warrants and 26 traffic and non-traffic warrants for his arrest. Sailar is also wanted by Mercer County for failing to appear to court for driving under the influence of alcohol charge, Shenango Township Police for aggravated assault, Pulaski Township Police for flight to avoid apprehension and Brookfield Township Police, in Ohio, for obstructing justice.
