PORT ALLEGANY – Port Allegany/Smethport used five forfeits to set the advantage as they went on to notch a 40-27 victory over Kane in wrestling action Friday.
Leading the Port Allegany/Smethport matmen were Chase Weimer with a decision at 106, Bryant Johnson with a major-decision victory at 113 and Justin Young with a decision at 220. Meanwhile, the Gators claimed forfeit wins at 120 for Reese Vollmer, 126 for Brayden Johnson, 132 for Eli Petruzzi, 145 for Lucas Fowler and 195 for Dalton Distrola.
The win is a welcome finale to a busy streak for the Gators.
“I think our kids had a rough couple weeks,” said B.J. Greenman, Port Allegany/Smethport coach. “We had a lot of matches, so we are looking forward to the Christmas break to rest up and get ready for the next part of our season.”
Port/Smethport, now 4-0 on the season, returns to action on Jan 5 when they travel to Ridgway.
