SMETHPORT — The Smethport Hubbers were less than 16 minutes away from staying unbeaten in the North Tier League on Wednesday night.
But some sloppy play from the Hubbers, and some hot shooting for Otto-Eldred, sent the Terrors to a 44-41 come-from-behind victory on the road.
Otto-Eldred (1-2, 3-3) picked up its first league win by outscoring Smethport 25-18 in the second half. Cole Sebastian hit three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 20 points for O-E.
Smethport (3-3, 3-1), which erased an early 10-6 deficit with a 17-point second quarter to take that halftime lead, had Caleb Lutz (10) and Eric Szarowicz (13) in double figures.
“It was a hard-fought game,” Smethport coach Jay Acker said. “We had a lot of bad turnovers, and we couldn’t quite overcome those at the end. We had a couple of good opportunities for some shots but those just didn’t go down.”
The Hubbers also committed 18 fouls in the game, leading to nine made free throws from O-E.

COUDERSPORT — It was just another day at the office for Owen Chambers and the Coudersport Falcons on Wednesday night.
Chambers, who is averaging almost 35 points per game this season, poured in 38 against Austin (1-2, 3-4) as the Falcons stayed perfect and rolled to their fourth straight dominating win.
Chambers got plenty of help against the Panthers as well, as teammates Hayden Keck (19) and Dillion Keglovits (12) were also in double-digits. Keglovits also led Coudy on the glass with 10 rebounds.
Coudersport (4-0, 4-0) exploded for 51 points in the first half, and had 83 at the end of three quarters.
Austin, meanwhile, tried to keep up with the Coudy firepower with seven made three-pointers, and were led by Dempsey Glover’s 19 points.
The Falcons travel to Otto-Eldred on Friday for a final NTL matchup before the holiday break.

EMPORIUM — Stifling defense and an offensive explosion from Marcus Brown and Caden Beldin sent Cameron County to its fifth straight victory on Wednesday.
Brown hit five three-pointers in the game and led all scorers with 19 points, while Beldin added 16 of his own.
Even more impressively for Cameron Co. (5-1, 4-0) was its defense in the first half. After coming out of the first quarter with a 19-6 advantage, the Red Raiders shut out Galeton in the second frame and went into the halftime break up 29-6.
“I thought we played really well defensively tonight,” Cameron County assistant coach Brian Goode said. “Just good, solid man-to-man defense.”
After losing their first game of the season to Ridgway in double overtime, the Red Raiders have rolled to five consecutive wins and join Coudersport as the lone unbeaten teams left in the NTL.
Evan Brooks paced Galeton (1-3, 3-3) with eight points.
Cameron County looks to keep its streak intact on Friday at Austin.
