The Dusenburys of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse announce their 12th annual Memorial Candlelight Ceremony to be held at 5 p.m. Monday — Christmas Eve — at their funeral home, located at 118 S. Union St., Shinglehouse. The Dusenburys stated, “We are proud to remember and honor our families that we have been privileged to serve this past year; we know their hearts are heavy this first Christmas without their loved one. If we can further lighten their burden we have achieved our goal of ‘our continuing to care forever.’” Each family they have served will be represented by a white luminaria. The name of each loved one will be read and a representative of the family, if present, is invited to light their loved one’s luminaria. If a family member is not present, a member of the Dusenbury family or staff will light that candle. After the last candle is lit, a final candle will be lit in remembrance of every family served.
