At the monthly meeting of the Otto Township supervisors, chairman Chris Claycomb stated that three residents have inquire thus far about the supervisor position that will be vacant at year’s end with the resignation of Cindy Gardner.
Those three — and any other qualified resident wishing to be considered — are to write a letter of submission to the supervisors’ office. All applications must be received by Jan. 31.
The Otto Sewage Authority is interested in hiring a part-time employer and asked the supervisors to consider cross-training one person who would be capable of helping both the township and the authority as necessary. The supervisors will explore this possibility and make a decision in the near future.
Sharon Schwab, president of the Otto Township Cemetery Association, reported on the progress it has made obtaining incorporation and establishing a database. She thanked the township residents who have contributed money, information and time helping to bring both cemeteries back to respectability.
The “blight fight” is ongoing, with chairman Richard Rivers meeting with Chris Gulotta to update and revise the township code. The committee will meet in January to review their suggestions.
2019’s proposed budget was presented and will be reviewed for adoption at a budgetary meeting at the township office at 8 a.m. Dec. 27.
Rixford residents are reminded that garbage collection Christmas week will be Friday, Dec. 28, instead of the usual Tuesday collection.
The supervisors will start anew in 2019 with a reorganizational meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Main Street office. This will be followed immediately by the initial 2019 monthly meeting. February will see the return of the scheduled meeting days, the second Wednesday of the month.
