TO DO: While no sugar plum fairy will be dancing this weekend, there will be a several other festive holiday-themed events and concerts in the area, sure to make even Ebenezer Scrooge himself smile.

Today the 40-voice choir Perfected Praise will perform the Christmas worship musical “The King is Here” at 2 p.m. in the Bradford Area High School.
This evening, the Candlelight Concert Series will feature harpist Hannah Finson from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. in the Harriett B. Wick Chapel at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford campus. A native of Lakewood, N.Y., Finson will play a selection of classical and traditional Christmas music on her 108 year-old Lyon & Healy concert harp. Admission to this event will is free and open to the public.
Sunday morning the smell of Christmas will permeate the air when the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department begins the Christmas Cookie House at 9 a.m. at the fire hall on Route 59.
Elsewhere in McKean County on Sunday the Mount Jewett Community Christmas Party will be held from 1 until 6 p.m. at the Mount Jewett Veteran’s Memorial Club. The event is free and open to all ages.
And at 3 p.m. at the Bradford Area High School auditorium, a cast of 42 children and adults of all abilities will perform a Bradford Little Theatre production titled “Christmas…From the Heart,” under the direction of Heather and John Kearns.
Admission to this 75-minute performance featuring holiday scenes, Christmas songs and original dance numbers will be a suggested donation of $5, with all proceeds donated to the Era’s Less Fortunate Fund, which provides Christmas presents to the needy of the community.
