A shelter in place Wednesday morning at Bradford Area High School was due to a medical emergency.
Assistant Superintendent Sam Johnson said a student had a medical emergency in a bathroom. When it happened, a school nurse was brought in right away, and the police and an ambulance took her across the street to Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Her condition was not serious, and Johnson anticipated she would be released later on Wednesday.
Principal David Ray explained that the reason for the shelter in place was that the emergency happened about three minutes before the end of class, and he didn’t want students in the way in the hallway while the situation was being handled.
