A Port Allegany man has been charged for allegations that he assaulted a woman and held a knife to her throat.
Kane-based state police reported that the 26-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, was not yet in custody as of Monday morning.
According to police, between 4 p.m. Sunday and 2:14 a.m. Monday on North Main Street, Port Allegany, a 26-year-old man choked, punched and kicked a 27-year-old woman during an argument. He allegedly put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, as well.
The woman suffered bruising, swelling and redness in the alleged assault, police stated.
The man fled, and police believe he may have gone to the Scio, N.Y., area. Police said a criminal complaint has been filed against the man and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Pennsylvania’s online court docket system indicates that charges were filed Monday against Steven L. Crabb Jr., 26, of Port Allegany, for allegations Sunday in Port Allegany; however, it is unclear if Crabb is the man police are looking for in the above assault.
Charges against Crabb include strangulation and aggravated assault, both second-degree felonies; simple assault and terroristic threats, both first-degree misdemeanors; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary harassment.
The docket does not indicate that Crabb has been arrested on charges.
