SMETHPORT (EC) — Smethport School Superintendent David London informed the school directors Wednesday about Future Ready PA Index, the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s new program that tracks school district’s success.
Using a PowerPoint presentation, London said, “This initiative is replacing the School Performance Profile, which is on the way out.”
The index provides comprehensive information about schools’ success and reveals how schools perform and make progress in multiple categories, including student growth in English language, reading, math, biology and science, and other areas, such as attendance and indicators for success.
London summarized the results of the elementary school’s results on this statewide assessment tool.
Board president Larry Dennis, who was reelected, made the following committee appointments: David Stratton PSBA liaison; Don Shonts, Allegheny Forest Alliance representative; and vice-president Bill Funk, IU9 board representative. Dennis will be the employee relations contact.
Directors approved the establishment of two clubs and their advisors. Emily Housler and Bridgot Hernan will advise the Drama Club. Matt Bailey and Andrea Young will advise the Outdoor Club.
Business Manager Sue Jordan and Mary Jo Kreiner were reappointed delegate and alternate delegate, respectively, to the McKean County tax collection committee.
