KANE — CASA of McKean County is holding an informational session from 7 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Kane Area Community Center at 46 Fraley St.
The focus of the informational session is to inform others on how to become a CASA volunteer.
Court Appointed Special Advocates are volunteers from the community that are trained to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. Individuals that agree to become a volunteer will go through 30 hours of training which culminates with being sworn in by the court and appointed to a case.
Jessica London, advocate supervisor; and Suzy Meyer-Page, executive director, will present information regarding the process of becoming a volunteer for the CASA program. In addition, current CASA volunteers will be present to answer any questions about being a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Light refreshments will be served.
“If you are feeling like you may want to do something to help out someone less fortunate this holiday season, I encourage you to attend the informational session in Kane to see what you can do to help a vulnerable child,” Meyer-Page said.
CASA of McKean County is always looking for volunteers and interested parties may reach out to the program at casa@mckeancountypa.org or call (814) 568-2170 if you are unable to attend the informational session but are still interested in volunteering.
