The Bradford City Water Authority is asking local residents for their patience while water levels rebuilt following a weekend leak.
“Voluntary water conservation efforts will remain in effect through at least this coming Friday,” according to Steve Disney, executive director for the authority.
“Our finished water storage tanks and reservoir water levels continue to recover following the transmission main break which affected the 20-inch main along Campus Drive Sunday night,” he said.
Disney anticipates normal water levels to return later this week.
He explained, “Barring any unforeseen event, based on our calculations and current trends from this week, we anticipate our tanks and reservoir storage will be at our normal operating capacities by sometime this Friday.”
The water has remained safe to drink.
He stated, “Our water quality remains good and a boil water advisory is not necessary regarding this event.”
Disney went on to explain, “Events such as this often times require immediate notification be sent to all affected customers. The authority sent out an emergency notification this past Sunday night to all customers that are currently registered in our system. If you did not receive the emergency phone call, you have an unpublished phone number in the system.”
In order to receive emergency notifications, people must register at www.bradfordwater.com, Disney said.
He explained the process Registrations should click the “Swift911 — Emergency Notification Services” button at the bottom of the home page and enter information including the main number by which they’d like to be notified in an emergency. That number can be a cell number.
“Your email address will be your Username and you will have to set up your own unique password,” he said. “You’ll then receive an email with your 4-digit confirmation code. Enter that 4-digit code into the box provided and hit complete the registration.”
Disney said, “Anyone having difficulty with this service can call the Water Authority offices at 814-362-3004 for assistance.”
