Bradford City officials declared three more homes public nuisances when the city’s board of health met Tuesday evening.
Added to the list were 62 Hobson Place, 52 High St. and 230 High St. Health director Mike Cleveland shared photographs and talked about the condition of each structure before city council voted on each.
At 62 Hobson, the roof is deteriorating, causing water damage inside, and vagrants have caused damage inside and taken some metal components from it, he said. Roofing materials sometimes blow into the street and have damaged vehicles parked there.
There are signs that squatters have used 52 High St., which is in “very poor condition,” said Cleveland. While the roof is in “surprisingly” good condition, the front porch roof is leaking and there are structural issues with the home.
At 230 High St., the left side of the roof is not only deteriorating, but “pretty much gone” in spots, and there is significant water damage, said Cleveland, who noted it has “deteriorated well beyond the point of saving it.”
The owners of all three properties are deceased.
Cleveland also had an update about a property that was declared a nuisance in October: 115 Kennedy St. Mayor Tom Riel had noted at the October meeting that 115 Kennedy was one of the oldest homes in the neighborhood and was disappointed to see it fall into disrepair.
Joshua Halbauer contacted the city to say he’d like to buy it and rehabilitate it.
Cleveland toured the home with Halbauer, whose next step is to determine whether it will financially worth fixing. If Halbauer buys it, Cleveland said there will be a request put before the board to rescind the order calling it a public nuisance.
Meanwhile, the attorney representing the owner of another nuisance home — 15 Cole Ave. — has contacted the city to say the owner has no interest in fixing the home. Demolition is the only option, according to Cleveland.
For a home at 101 School St., an attorney with Bank of America indicated the company is looking at bids to demolish the decaying structure.
