Police were still on scene late Friday night after a Port Allegany man reportedly barricaded himself in his home that afternoon.
U.S. Route 6 was blocked between Smethport and Port Allegany as the situation evolved.
Few details of the ongoing incident were available at press time.
McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer confirmed state police’s involvement in the situation –– explaining, “State police have responded to a man who has barricaded himself inside his home.”
Shaffer didn’t know approximately what time state troopers responded, but believes they responded around 4 p.m.
“I’ve been advised that reports are there is nobody else in the home,” Shaffer said.
Shaffer added that there have not been many details reported regarding the incident, but believes the scene is located at a residence across from the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness church on U.S. Route 6.
It was unknown if anyone was hurt.
Kane-based state police were not able to provide details of the incident since it is still under investigation, but assured more information will be available soon.
This is the second standoff state police have dealt with this year. Less than three months ago, state police had a standoff on Aug. 27 in Port Allegany, where a man was killed in an officer-involved shooting after opening fire on state troopers.
