Everything from canned preserves to “Paparazzi Jewelry” will be available to purchase during the second-annual Fall Vendor Fair Saturday at the Greater Bradford Senior Center on Campus Drive.
The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., will raise funds for the Senior Center’s overhead fees, said Nancy Reynolds, president of the facility.
“The vendors will pay $10 a table and we also will have food that day” including hot dogs for $1, sloppy joes for $2 and coffee for 50 cents, Reynolds said, explaining proceeds from these sales will benefit the Senior Center. As in the past, volunteers from the Senior Center, who include Jim Cuthbertson, will provide some of the labor involved with the event.
Amy Patterson, secretary and bookkeeper for the Senior Center, said the vendor fair will feature a variety of materials including foods, gift items, crafts and novelty items.
She said that while last year’s vendor fair was specifically aimed toward the holiday season, this year’s event will likely sell both fall and Christmas-related wares.
“We decided to try this in November and it worked out very well last year,” Patterson recalled. “That’s why we’re trying it again.”
Patterson said unique items to be sold, including the “Paparazzi Jewelry” and “It Works” health and beauty products, should give visitors plenty to look over, enjoy and purchase.
“We’ll also have a couple of tables of baked goods … and fudge and rock candy,” Patterson continued. “And Geri Schillinger will have canned goods — she has jellies and jams.”
Also available will be J.R. Watkins spices, extracts and soaps, among other items.
Patterson said craft items, as well as Shaklee products sold by Dianne Austin, will also be on-hand.
Reynolds said Senior Center volunteers will man a table that sells various puzzles and hardback books that were donated to the facility.
All money raised will go into the Senior Center coffers that will be used to “pay its bills” accrued by the facility throughout the year. This, in turn, helps the Senior Center ensure its doors stay open for the dozens of members as well as the weekday lunches served to as many as 75 people who stop in for nourishment, socializing and activities.
