SMETHPORT (EC) — Vina E. Cole of Smethport was honored on the occasion of her 90th birthday at a celebration Oct. 21 at the Smethport American Legion.

The daughter of Ira and Cora Whitehead, Vina was born on Oct. 24, 1928, in Troupsburg, NY.

On June 30, 1946, she married Herman R. Cole, who passed away on Nov. 7, 2000.

Their children are Ronald (Nancy) Cole of Stow, Ohio; Roger Cole of Lewis Run; Todd (Karin) Cole, also of Lewis Run; and Courtney (Kristine) Cole, Roulette.  A daughter, Carolyn, was deceased at birth.

She had eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Prior to her retirement, Vina Cole was employed at Smethport Specialty and Sears, Roebuck and Co.

She is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Smethport American Legion Auxiliary and Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Vina is also a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church.

Among the 85 people attending the celebration were her brothers.
