A Bradford man who was accused of assault last week was arraigned Sunday before District Judge William Todd.
Andrew J. Beck, 28, of 41 Main St., Apt. 400, is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; and summary harassment.
According to the criminal complaint, at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 25, a female, who was upset and only wearing one shoe, ran into the Bradford City Police Station, asking for help because she had just been assaulted by Beck.
Police observed “extensive facial and head injuries” to the female, which included purple lumps in the center of her forehead, and scrapes and abrasions on each side of her jaw; she also reported having “an extremely sore throat” from Beck strangling her multiple times over a two-day period, the complaint stated.
During that time period, the pair argued and Beck allegedly knocked her to the ground and dragged her from the hall into the residence, where he punched, choked, shoved and threw her; in the bathroom, Beck slammed her head into the wall, causing her to fall to the ground, according to court records.
While the female was laying on the floor from the head injury, Beck grabbed some of his stuff to leave, and before he left, she saw him reach into her wallet and take about $100 in cash, and he took a prescription medication of hers, the complaint stated.
Court records stated that two witnesses at the residence heard Beck threaten to kill the female as he was leaving; also, when he was leaving the parking lot in his car, he backed up in an aggressive manner, nearly striking the two people.
Beck is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
