Ralph D. Abbott, 71, of 5511 Route 155, Port Allegany, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge David Engman on charges of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary charge.
According to the criminal complaint, at 12:23 p.m. Thursday, Kane-based state police were dispatched to the Port Allegany Police Department to meet with a woman about an alleged assault that took place at Abbott’s home.
The woman related that she and Abbott were arguing, and Abbott told her “he would kick her ass,” court records stated. In reply, “She told him she was sick of his threats and to more or less go ahead.”
Abbot allegedly grabbed her by the hair and started punching her, she told police. He said “he would put her in the bottom of an artesian well up Scaffold Lick and nobody would ever find her,” the complaint stated.
When police interviewed Abbott, he told them the woman was drinking alcohol and hit him first, “and he doesn’t put up with that,” court records said. The complaint stated that the woman had bruises on her eye, forehead and both arms, while there was no visible sign of injury on Abbott.
Abbott is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
Criminal charges against Kane pair withdrawn
Criminal charges filed in July against two Kane residents were withdrawn Monday before District Judge David Engman. Non-traffic summary charges remain.
James L. Ackley, 31, and Stevie J. Schmidt, 26, each pleaded guilty to one charge of summary harassment on Monday, court records stated.
Court records filed in July indicated that first responders were called to a North Fraley Street address about 4:30 a.m. on July 8 for a report of a possible overdose; there, police received details of an alleged scuffle between the pair.
