A preliminary hearing has been set for next month for the Bradford man charged after a brief standoff with police Sept. 26.
Frederick W. Angell II, 27, of 14 Blaisdell Ave., is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a summary offense.
According to court records, police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance involving a man with a gun at Angell’s residence just before 9 p.m. Sept. 26. While officers were underway to the location, several calls came in to the McKean County 9-1-1 Center regarding shots fired in the area of the residence.
Officers arrived on scene and attempted evacuating an adult female and two young children from the residence, the records read.
“We also briefly observed the suspect, Frederick Angell II, outside the residence, near the driveway, he then went back into the residence through the back door and barricaded himself inside the residence where he armed himself with a shotgun,” police stated.
Angell was on the phone with a dispatcher from the McKean County 9-1-1 Center, and made threats to kill law enforcement officers, police stated.
“At this point officers were able to get the female and her children to leave the area of the residence for safety reasons,” police stated. “Officers also evacuated the neighborhood surrounding the residence as a precaution.”
Congress Street was closed, and area streets were blocked as well.
Eventually, he peacefully surrendered to police. The female at the residence told police that Angell had gone into the backyard of the residence and fired a handgun into the air while in her presence, “and while two small children were inside the residence. Evidence was collected from the scene before officers cleared.”
Angell remains jailed at $50,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 21. He is represented by attorney James P. Miller.
