ELDRED — No one was injured when an unoccupied truck was struck by a train across from Frame Funeral Home in Eldred Borough at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday.
Otto-Eldred Regional Police responded to a call of a train versus vehicle accident Wednesday evening. Fire department personnel were already on the scene when police arrived, and had determined no one was in the truck when it was struck.
Police said that upon investigation, it was determined the truck was parked too close to the railroad with its bumper overtop of the train tracks. The vehicle only suffered minor damage and was driven from the scene.
The track inspector for Western New York/Pennsylvania Railroad arrived on scene to inspect the track and train, and determined there was no damage done to the train or the train tracks. Assisting at the scene were the Eldred Borough Volunteer Fire Department.
