A former Bradford priest who was criminally charged for allegations he sexually abused or attempted to sexually abuse two boys has pleaded guilty.
David Poulson, 65, entered a guilty plea today in Jefferson County Court to charges of corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children, both third-degree felonies, according to a statement from Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
A state grand jury accused Poulson of repeatedly sexually assaulting one boy in the church after the boy served as an altar server during services, as well as trying to assault a second boy at a hunting cabin in Jefferson County.
Shapiro said the Diocese of Erie have been aware of “Poulson’s sexual predator tendencies” since at least May 2010 but failed to report him until 2016, when compelled by a subpoena from the grand jury.
From July 5, 1979, to June 9, 1982, Poulson served as a faculty member at Bradford Central Christian and as a weekend education staff member at St. Francis of Assisi, according to court records filed at the time of his arrest.
