GALETON — Undefeated no more.
Galeton gave Port Allegany their first league loss of the season as they rallied from a first-set defeat to edge the Gators 12-25, 26-24, 25-16, 24-26, 15-10 in five.
Jenna Sprankle had 47 assists and 18 digs while Kierra Keck had 19 kills and 15 digs for Port Allegany. Erin Stauffer also had fifteen kills and twenty digs. With the close loss, Port Allegany is now 12-1 in league play and 13-4 overall.
The Gators will look to get back into the win column when they host Austin on Monday.
Galeton, meanwhile, improves to 8-6 in North Tier League play.
Otto-Eldred 3, Cameron County 2
DUKE CENTER — A day after losing in straight sets to Coudersport, the Lady Terrors came back from two sets down to defeat Cameron County 20-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 17-15 for a huge North Tier League victory.
“There’s a lot of resilience on this team,” O-E coach Jame Thomas said. “They had their backs against the wall and they were fun to watch. They make my hair gray sometimes but they got the job done.”
There were plenty of big numbers for both teams.
For the Terrors, Reilly Raught finished with 15 kills, eight service points, and three aces; Veronica Benini had 14 kills, 24 digs, eight points, and two aces; Kala Cousins had 10 kills and 13 digs; and Morgan Dalton notched nine kills, 24 digs, six points, and one ace.
Alyvia McKimm led Cameron County with 15 assists, 10 digs, three aces, and four kills. Also contributing were Mallory McKimm (12 kills, four blocks) and Morgan Lorenzo (three aces, seven kills, 10 digs).
Otto-Eldred (12-5 overall, 10-3 NTL) will visit Oswayo Valley on Monday. Cameron County (9-5, 9-5), meanwhile, will take on Smethport on Monday.
Austin 3, Oswayo Valley 2
AUSTIN — Austin claimed its second win of the season, beating Oswayo Valley in five sets, 25-15, 25-14, 7-25, 20-25, 15-13.
Angelina Watson led Austin (2-11) with nine kills, 13 digs and 11 aces; Carissa Glover had six kills and four aces and Taylor Brewer added nine kills and four blocks.
For OV (7-10), Naomi Cook marked nine kills, four assists, 13 aces and 21 points.
Coudersport 3, Smethport 0
SMETHPORT — The Lady Falcons scored their second sweep in as many days with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 victory over Smethport on Thursday.
Shaelyn Black had 14 kills and two aces to lead Coudy (11-4, 11-3), while Mikayla Kavounas added 10 assists and Erica Williams logged six kills.
Smethport, meanwhile, fell to 3-10 with the loss. Mykala Deyarmin (three kills, seven assists), Hayley Durphy (12 digs, two aces) and Alexis Shall (five blocks, five kills) led the Hubbers.
“I’m proud of the way the girls have come together and started playing as a team,” Smethport coach Terri Spittler said.
The Hubbers travel to Cameron County on Monday.
