SMETHPORT — A free Streamside Stewardship workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 in Turtlepoint.
Anyone with a stream on their property who wants to learn how to protect their property and stream is invited to attend.
Topics include protecting the streambank with fish habitat structures; live staking shrubs; planting or enhancing streamside plantings; and invasive plant identification and treatment. All attending will be entered in a drawing for door prizes that include valuable tools to help maintain a streamside area. Free resources and lunch will be provided.
The workshop will be held near Turtlepoint and directions will be provided upon registration. Pre-register by Oct. 17 by contacting the McKean County Conservation District at 887-4001 or conservation@mckeancountypa.org
