POETRY: Today, we have a poem from Donald Neal of Bradford titled “The Weatherman.”
Today the forecast is for overcast skies
And the possibility of drizzle and rain.
But with sunshine and a few puffy clouds,
The weatherman was wrong again.
The weather won’t agree with him
No matter how hard he tries
His forecast is for clouds and rain
And we wind up with sunny skies.
I think Mother Nature is playing tricks on him,
It keeps him sharp and on the ball.
He gets the forecast right most of the time,
That’s all you can ask after all.
His job is difficult and risky,
All he has to go on are weather maps.
I think he had better look out the windows
His forecast would be better perhaps.
In all fairness we should be thankful,
His job is thankless and with pain.
Because when the forecast is right on the money,
Mother Nature changes her mind again.
All the times the forecast is right,
Nobody lauds him with praise.
But when he happens to be wrong,
The question of his sanity is raised.
Weathermen are just human beings,
Like everyone they will make mistakes.
They can forecast what the weather may be,
Even with all the abuse they must take.
Everyone blames the weatherman,
If the weather is not what you want it to be.
Mother Nature is the one you should blame,
If the weather and the weatherman don’t agree.
You should give the weatherman credit,
When you see his forecast tonight.
Sometimes his forecast may be wrong,
But most of the time is it right.
