The Bradford girls soccer team blanked visiting Franklin 5-0 on Monday.
Regan Johnson opened the scoring with the first of her three goals unassisted in the 16th minute. Taylor Komidar doubled the Owls’ lead 10 minutes later.
“Taylor really went after the ball tonight and would not be denied,” Bradford coach Warren Shaw said. “She won countless battles for the ball – she really stood out in the game for her effort.” The half ended with Bradford up 2-0 and owning most of time with the ball. The Franklin keeper kept it much closer with some very aggressive saves.
In the second half Johnson added two more scores and then Abbie Nuzzo closed out the scoring off of a hard-working assist from Emily Prince.
Also picking up assists for the Lady Owls were Mikayla Bond and Liz Miller. Emily Bosworth and Lauren Placer were again solid holding down the fort on the back end.
“We were able to move some girls around trying to find options for upcoming games,” Shaw said. “Alivia Laird put in some solid minutes in the mid field after not having played there before. She stepped up for us after Kylee Lekas went down with a sprained ankle late last week.” Mackenzie Lucas was in goal for the Lady Owls; she did not record a save but she played several balls with her feet and kept things safe in the back.
