PORT ALLEGANY — Members of the Port Allegany Women’s Club Above and Beyond Committee Anna Fair, Pam Fischer and Pat Miller visited the Port Allegany Senior Center Tuesday afternoon to present the first Above and Beyond Award to Senior Center Director Angie Culver.
The award certificate reads, “We, in the Port Allegany Women’s Club, embrace and value those who make an extra effort to improve the lives of others. We want to recognize and support these special women…like you.”
Culver was nominated for the award by Pat Miller who read the following: “We are here today at the Port Allegany Senior Center to make a special presentation on behalf of the Port Allegany Women’s Club. We, as a women’s club, have decided that it is very important to recognize the special women in our community who give so much of themselves to others.
“Angie, you are definitely one of these givers. You make all who enter these doors feel welcome and loved. You engage your members in conversation to include them and make them feel that they matter, they belong, and they are loved.”

The objective of the Port Allegany Women’s Club is the pursuit of education, cultural and civic studies and the encouragement of volunteer services to the Port Allegany Community. The PAWC, established in 1940, meets monthly from September through May and hosts concerts each Thursday evenings on the Town Square in the summer months.
