Bradford man jailed for years-old assault case
A Bradford man is in jail for allegedly hitting another man in the head with a brick in the parking lot near a Bradford bar in November 2016.
Daniel Hazzard, 29, of 12 South Center St., is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a first-degree felony and a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and public drunkenness, a summary offense.
According to court records, at about 2 p.m. Nov. 6, 2016, two police officers saw Hazzard in a parking lot near a bar. When patrons began to leave, the officers saw Hazzard walk up behind Jeremy L. Hatch and hit him in the head when Hatch wasn’t paying attention, the records allege.
Officers immediately arrested Hazzard, who was too intoxicated to speak to them, the records stated. Police learned that he had struck Hatch in the head with a brick, which was on the ground next to Hatch.
Hatch suffered injuries in the assault, police said.
Hazzard was arraigned last week and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Dom Cercone at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
