SMETHPORT — A Bradford man jailed for forgery charges was arraigned again Wednesday for allegedly smuggling suboxone into the jail.
Jonathan William Colts, 33, of 1144 South Ave., is charged with bringing contraband into a correctional facility and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.
According to the criminal complaint in the case, a corrections officer received a tip that Colts had contraband. Colts was found in possession of three empty packages of suboxone strips, and one package with a partial strip in it. Colts admitted to police that he had taken the strips into the jail, and said he had bought them off someone on the street, the complaint stated.
Colts was arraigned by District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Sept. 27.
