WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., announced Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security – Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will begin accepting applications for the Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) program at 8 a.m. on Monday.
The application period will close at 5 p.m. Oct. 26.
These grants are available to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations, and State Fire Training Academies to assist in funding critically needed resources.
Eligible applicants should apply for AFG funding online via the e-Grants application at: https://portal.fema.gov. For more information, applicants should review the FY 2018 Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) Open Application Period Announcement. In addition, System for Award Management (Sam.gov) registration is required of all AFG Program applicants and awardees.
Note that applications cannot be submitted through Toomey’s office. However, Toomey’s office often provides letters of support to applicants once their application has been submitted. See the link below for additional instructions.
