GALETON — Shaelyn Black had 25 kills to lead Coudersport to a 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17 four-set victory over Galeton in North Tier League play Monday.
After winning the first two sets, Galeton edged Coudy in the third before the Falcons rallied to close out the match with a 25-17 fourth set.
“Galeton is a scrappy team that keeps the ball in play and wants you to make a mistake,” Coudersport head coach Brian Green said. “They made us earn all of our points”
Black also added 29 digs and five blocks to her impressive statline, while Dana Dubots (26 digs, four kills), Mikayla Gunn (30 digs, six aces) and Mikayla Kavounas (22 assists, three blocks, two kills) also had solid performances.
“Those four did a nice job of running our offense,” Green added.
The Lady Tigers were led by Brielle Kalacinski with three blocks, 20 digs and four kills.
Coudy (2-1) heads to Austin tonight hoping to pick up a third straight victory.
Port Allegany 3, Oswayo Valley 0
PORT ALLEGANY — The Lady Gators remained perfect in NTL play (3-0) with a sweep of Oswayo Valley on Monday by the score of 25-14, 25-21, 25-18.
Jenna Sprankle led Port A with 11 assists and 16 service points, while Kayla Pesock (six kills, six points) and Kalyn Naylor (two kills, eight points) also had big performances.
OV’s Naomi Cook finished with 10 digs, five kills, and two blocks.
Port Allegany (3-1 overall) will play again today at home against Cuba-Rushford.
Smethport 3, Austin 2
AUSTIN — The Lady Hubbers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win Monday’s match with Austin 22-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-13, 15-13.
Willow Lapp led Smethport (2-1) with seven aces, eight kills and nine digs. MiKayla Deyarmin (eight aces, 11 assists, three kills, six digs) and Hayley Durphey (six aces, two assists, six digs) also contributed to the win.
Smethport hosts Otto tonight.
